A court has issued a final adjournment in a case involving a senior officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations accused of killing his wife Florence Nyagah in Roysambu, as prosecutors seek more time to firm up their position.
The court upheld earlier bail terms, granting the accused a bond of KSh 5 million with two sureties of a similar amount. Alternatively, he may be released on a cash bail of KSh 1.5 million.
The officer, Daniel Macharia, is alleged to have fatally stabbed his wife at their home along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu before later surrendering to police in Naivasha.
The case came up for mention at the Makadara Law Courts before B. M. Kimemia, with the accused present in court. The prosecution informed the court that the case file has been under review at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions since April 17, 2026, and requested an additional week to issue further directions.
The court allowed the request, terming it the final adjournment in the matter.
During the proceedings, the defence team led by Danstan Omari had renewed an application for bail and bond, citing the accused’s medical condition and willingness to comply with court requirements.
The court upheld earlier the bail terms, directed the case to be mentioned on April 27, 2026, when the prosecution is expected to present its final position.
