The Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) has suffered a setback after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal ruled it has jurisdiction to hear a complaint filed by the embattled party’s Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna.
In a decisive ruling, the Tribunal threw out a preliminary objection that sought to block the case, effectively paving the way for a full hearing. This means the dispute between Sifuna and ODM will now be heard in detail.
However, the Tribunal declined to issue conservatory orders for now, noting that key issues must first be fully addressed before any binding decisions can be made.
It also directed that any outcome from an Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism (ADRM) process between Sifuna and the party will not take effect until the case is conclusively determined.
The ruling now sets the stage for a substantive legal battle that could shape the party’s internal dynamics.
