One of the widows to former President Daniel Moi’s eldest son Jonathan Moi, has asked Kenyans of goodwill to support her raise funds for the treatment of her 14-year-old-son.
Through lawyer Duncan Okatch, the widow, Faith Moi claims she has been unable to access funds left by the former president for his grandchildren as the executrix Zehrabanu Janmohamed has continuously frustrated her.
The former president who died in 2020 had appointed senior counsel, Zehrabanu Janmohamed as executrix of his estate.
According to Faith Moi’s lawyer, the former head of state left a will, apportioning 20 per cent of his entire estate to his male children with the right going down to his grandchildren.
However, the estate is not being dealt with properly as the executrix of the state has filed for confirmation of the grant of probate without disclosing even a penny that the late president owned.
“When you file for confirmation of grant, you must attach a schedule of distribution that shows what is going to who, the executrix is acting against the estate of Moi with the blessings of some of the children,” lawyer Duncan Okatch told the media yesterday.
According to the lawyer, the youngest grandson of the later, he has been turned into a beggar, as the mother is now engaging Kenyans to assist him since he needs urgent medical attention with an urgent surgery scheduled for 16th of this month.
“We have filed applications in court asking out of what the former president owned, to accord sh 2.5 million which is required by the hospital, the matter has been pending for a whole year and the executrix who has access to the bank accounts, has refused to give us even a coin towards the medical attention,” noted the lawyer.
The mother is now pleading with Kenyans of goodwill to help the young boy get the much needed medical attention.
