Director of Public Prosecution now wants Kevin Kang’ethe, the man want wanted in the US for killing his girlfriend remanded at Industrial area Prison.

Prosecution counsel Vincent  Monda told Milimani law court Magistrate Lucas Onyina that they do want to take any risk again after the suspect escaped from police custody last week.

Kang’ethe had earlier been detained at Muthaiga police station but  he escaped and was re-arrested early Wednesday  morning within Ngong area.

The prosecution urged the court to detain him at the said prison and the orders are granted he will only be allowed access to the lawyers representing him.

The prosecution also wants the court to order that when his lawyers visit him they should be accompanied by investigator in the case.

“In case the suspect requires any medical attention it should be done in consultation with the government doctors attached to industrial area,” argued Monda.

Kang’ethe through his lawyers however objected to the application saying there was no charge pressed against him and that the proceedings before the court are that of extradition.

“If anything happened then it is upto the state to put its house in order ..if he can’t be detained at Muthaiga police station then there are other many stations in the country available,” his lawyer argued.

Court will rule on the matter at 3pm.
