A man who impersonated Supreme Court Judge William Ouko will now remain in custody for three days for police to conclude investigations.

Oduor Leakey Amolloh who was arraigned before Kiambu Magistrate Court on Friday, allegedly impersonated the said Judge and falsely obtained money from unsuspecting members of the public in pretext that he could influence public employments for them.

According to DCI detectives, Justice Ouko made a report to the police after receiving information on November 24 , that a mobile number 0728 494 058 purporting to be his mobile number was being used to defraud members of the public.

Documents filed by DCI investigators reveal that five people located in various parts of the country have fallen victim of the said fraud  and hence the need to trace, interview and record their statements.

According to the DCI detectives, the suspect has residences in the counties of Nairobi, Kakamega and Migori, from where he is suspected to be operating his fraudulent activities.

Police sought court orders to enable them conduct search at the residences to recover any exhibit that may be relevant in the ongoing investigations.

Among the documents filed in court and set to be presented as evidence are letters purported to be from a cross section of institutions offering various people employment which the suspect used the name of the Judge of the Supreme Court to secure.

The court directed he be detained for three days to allow the police conclude their investigations and also transport him to Kisumu where most of the crimes he allegedly committed happened.
