A man has been charged at the Milimani Law Courts with cyber harassment, after allegedly sending offensive messages to Migori County Member of Parliament, Hon. Fatima Zainab Mohammed.
Vincent Otieno Okwanyo appeared before Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and pleaded not guilty to the charges. According to the prosecution, the accused is alleged to have sent obscene and insulting text messages to the MP in September 2024, with the intent to offend.
The charge sheet details that Okwanyo made derogatory comments about the MP’s age and marital status, alongside other unprintable remarks.
Okwanyo was granted a bond of KSH 100,000 or an alternative cash bail of KSH 50,000. The magistrate also instructed him to refrain from contacting Hon. Fatima Zainab or discussing the case in any form until the matter is resolved.
The pre-trial hearing is set for October 23.
