Lawyers representing Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa now say they intend to privately prosecute Kakamega Governor Ferdinand Barasa for allegedly kidnapping the former CS.
Lawyers Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta on Thursday claimed Echesa was still hospitalized following the injuries inflicted on him by the kidnappers.
“He is free but not able to move out of the hospital He is struggling to deal with the medical complications that he has been put into,” said his lawyer Danstan Omari.
He claims that he filed a complaint against the Kakamega Boss but no action was taken. His lawyers said they shall be writing to DPP so that if he is not arrested and charged, they institute private prosecution against the governor.
The court on Wednesday granted him personal bond of Ksh.2 million and directed to appear before the police once he is discharged from hospital before April 23,2024.
The Former Sports CS had been arrested in an investigation into claims of an extortion racket targeting the Kakamega Governor.
