Joseph Mwenda alias Dj Joe Mfalme and six others will be remanded for 14 days for police to conclude investigations into the killing of DCI officer Felix Kintosi.

Mwenda alongside Allan Ochieng, Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare were arraigned before a Kibera court.

They are suspected of assaulting Kintosi on March 16 who he later succumbed to the injuries on March 21.

The police wanted them detained for 21 days but Kibera Principal Magistrate Margaret Murage allowed only 14 days.

DJ Joe Mfalme, Eric Gathua and Simon Wanjiru will be detained at Muthangari police station while Allan Ochieng will be detained at Kabete police.

The others ; Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich and Agnes Mogoi will be detained at Riruta station. The court directed the matter be mentioned on April 8.

In an affidavit, the detectives say preliminary investigations revealed the deceased was involved in a slight non-injury accident while driving his car along Kikuyu road by hitting a vehicle with five occupants.

Fredrick Kosen a police officer attached to DCI Dagoretti said what followed was an altercation that led to the deceased being beaten by Allan, Eric, Simon and DJ Joe.

The accident scene was allegedly visited by Abdi. Abdi had been assigned as the duty officer at Kikuyu police station to respond to traffic incidents on the night of March 16.

The officer allegedly found the deceased being beaten by Allan, Eric, and DJ Joe where they frogmarched him to Kikuyu police station.

It was there that he started complaining of abdominal pain. He was also urinating blood.

The court heard that the deceased left for home but the abdominal pains worsened. He was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital where he passed on March 21.
