The Kenya National Highways Authority(Kenya) has announced the restoration of traffic of the Garsen – Witu – Lamu (A7) Road between Gamba and Lango la Simba.
Kenha announced that the reconstruction of the section that had been washed away by floods is now complete but urged motorists to exercise caution.
“Kenha informs motorists that traffic restoration along Garsen – Witu – Lamu (A7) Road between Gamba and Lango la Simba is now complete and open to traffic,” read the statement from the Authority.
“Despite the reopening, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching and crossing the affected sections as there are ongoing works to further strengthen the repaired section and enhance safety measures,” the statement further read.
Kenha noted that plans were underway to implement a permanent solution to mitigate the impact of future flooding along the said section.
“The Authority acknowledges and appreciates the public patience during the restoration period.KeNHA remains committed to providing a safe and efficient road network,” read the statement.
Passengers traveling to Lamu were being forced to use canoes to cross the said section while vehicles could not cross.
