A legal showdown is brewing between pastor and motivational speaker Robert Burale and his ex-wife Rozina Mwakideu, alongside her brother, media personality Alex Mwakideu over allegations of defamation.
Burale has filed a Ksh. 20 million defamation suit against the two, accusing them of tarnishing his reputation through an explosive YouTube interview titled “My Biggest Mistake Was Marrying Robert Burale” which aired on Alex Mwakideu TV on October 4, 2025.
In court documents lodged at the Milimani Chief Magistrates’ Court, Burale, who describes himself as a respected cleric and public figure claims the interview painted him as “manipulative, hypocritical, a swindler, and homosexual.”
He argues the remarks were false, malicious, and calculated to destroy his credibility as a pastor and mentor.
Burale further accuses Alex of professional negligence, saying he failed to verify Rozina’s allegations or offer him a right of reply before publishing the content. He also faults the broadcaster for allegedly urging viewers to “share widely,” which, he says, fueled the spread of defamatory claims.
The court papers include time stamped sections of the interview that Burale says exposed him to public ridicule, mental anguish, and professional harm, endangering both his ministry and livelihood.
He is seeking a permanent injunction compelling the removal of the video and any related posts, a public apology circulated widely, and damages amounting to Ksh. 20 million.
