Activist Fredrick Bikeri has sued Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over remarks made against NIS Boss Noordin Haji. Bikeri claims that Gachagua’s statements were untruthful, inciting, and unlawful, failing to meet the standards expected of a public officer under Articles 73 and 75 of the Constitution and the Leadership and Integrity Act.

“The statements made by the DP at a press conference on Wednesday, June 25, 2024, were misconceived, improper, untruthful, and unlawful, intended to incite hatred against the interested party and falling short of the standard expected of a public officer of his capacity,” Bikeri asserts in court documents.

Through lawyer Danstan Omari, Bikeri argues that the National Cohesion and Integration Commission should investigate Gachagua’s remarks.

“The statements by the 2nd Respondent brought disrepute to the offices of the Director of Public Prosecution and National Intelligence Service and breached Article 10 of the Constitution on National Values and Principles,” Omari states.

On Wednesday, the DP claimed that NIS boss Noordin Haji failed to inform the President about the scale of the protests in time to prevent the unprecedented carnage and loss of lives. “We have a dysfunctional National Intelligence Service that has exposed the President, the government, and the people of Kenya,” he said.
